M.S. programs at The George Washington University School of Medicine

I would like to draw your attention to two M.S. programs at The George Washington
University School of Medicine - the M.S. in Biochemistry and the M.S. in Genomics
and Bioinformatics. These programs are described in detail on our website
http://pull.xmr3.com/p/1711-D006/94943590/http-www.gwumc.edu-biochem.html by following the link under "Academic Programs". We would
appreciate your forwarding this email to interested graduating seniors who might want
to consider one of these 2-year programs. Many of our M.S. graduates have gone on to
get advanced degrees and have successful careers in science, medicine, law and business.

Our M.S. Program in Biochemistry was started over 15 years ago whereas the M.S.
Program in Genomics and Bioinformatics is 5 years old. We typically have about 20
students in each program at any time. One of our major strengths is our focus on
teaching technical skills as we offer separate laboratory courses in Proteins,
Molecular Biology, Lipid Biotechnology and Experimental Genomics. In addition,
a large number of faculty provide mentored reseach for students following the thesis
option although a non-thesis option is also available. As the graduate courses are
mostly taught by Medical Center faculty, students receive excellent training in
the biomedical sciences.

These programs provide a strong training environment for students interested
in Biochemistry or Genomics and Bioinformatics but who are not ready to commit
to the much longer Ph.D. programs. We accept students in both Fall and Spring
semesters with application deadlines of August 1 and December 1 respectively.

If you or interested students have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Jack Y. Vanderhoek, Ph.D.
Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Director of M.S. Program in Biochemistry
