Students Present at VA Section ACS Meeting

UMW students Samantha Davis, Rebecca Funkhouser, Paul Walsh and Asako Kubota presented the results of their independent study projects on Friday, April 13, 2007 as part of the undergraduate poster session at the Virginia Section of the American Chemical Society meeting. Hosted at the University of Virginia, the poster session brings students and faculty from institutions across the state together for an evening of science and discussion. Sam Davis, who has been working with Dr. Roy Gratz, gave her poster on her research into liquid crystals. Rebecca Funkhouser and Asako Kubota presented their work with Dr. Janet Asper on BOC-protection of guanidines. Paul Walsh discussed his electrogenerated chemiluminescence studies with Dr. Ray Scott.

In addition, Asako Kubota was presented with the ACS award from UMW at the meeting. This award is typically given to our top graduating major. When you see Asako, please congratulate her!
